IYT Juliet & Romeo
Visual identity
Intermission Youth Theatre asked me to design promotional materials for their production of ‘Juliet & Romeo’.
The play, as the title suggests, is reversed. All of the dominant characters are played by women, and Shakespeare’s lines have been transposed to reveal underlying themes about the power of women and their roles in relationships and society.
We flipped the iconic representation of Romeo and Juliet on its head in order to emphasise Juliet’s changed role and used the themes of sun and moon, separation and reciprocity to create a simple but bold visual statement.
