D&AD Annual 2017
Design industry awards
D&AD President Bruce Duckworth and designer Jim Sutherland wanted to use the 2017 Annual to emphasise the important role that D&AD plays in mediating the creative industries.
The design concept features 10 bound-in ribbon markers and makes recurrent use of typographic hooks, such as the ampersand and other established D&AD iconography, to pull together D&AD’s various mandates and the diversity of creative work within the Annual.
Importantly, use of simple typography, limited colour palette and playful copywriting creates a tone of voice where the winning work is always the champion.
